This Balsamic Citrus Vinaigrette is a tangy dressing that pairs perfectly with green salads. It’s so simple to make your own salad dressing, and it tastes so much better than anything that you’ll buy from the grocery store. With minimal prep time, you’ll have maximum flavor!
Healthy recipes like this are some of my favorites to make. The citrus flavors do add a little sunshine to the bed of lettuce and can easily take any simple salad into a whole new flavor category.
You can add this to winter salads, a spinach salad, or even just a simple garden salad as well. When it comes to creating your own homemade dressing, you have the option to add fresh flavor to any recipe that you want. It’s a personal favorite of mine because it’s ready in minutes and is a great addition to any low-calorie diet.
This simple vinaigrette is a great way to add flavor to your favorite green salad with ease. If you’re unsure that you want to commit fully to this balsamic dressing recipe, you can always have a little bit in a small bowl and use it sparingly.

Top Tip💡
You can also add some fresh lemon juice or lime juice to this citrus balsamic vinaigrette recipe. You really can’t overdo the delicious citrus flavor!
Variations
- Garlic powder – Adding seasonings and fresh herbs is never a bad idea. Fresh garlic, fresh basil, and even a little bit of onion powder are all good substitutes or additions.
- Orange juice – Fresh orange juice from different types of oranges is fun to use. Squeeze the juice from blood oranges as a great option, or use the juice from a mandarin orange.
- Vinegar – Try this with white balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
I think that this Dill Pickle Salad Dressing has one of the best flavors as well!
Equipment
A wire whisk, a mixing bowl, and a jar with a tight-filling lid are really all that you need to make this perfect combination.
Storage
Once you make this citrus vinaigrette dressing, keep it stored in a small container in the fridge. You can reuse and enjoy the flavor again! Just be sure to give the container a little shake before adding as some of the ingredients will settle.
This dressing is best used fresh, not to be frozen.
Common Questions
This is really the perfect dressing for so many dishes. You can add this to summer salads or create an amazing salad that has tons of flavors to compliment this dressing. I love adding goat cheese to spinach salads, and then topping with this dressing.
I think that this would be a great addition to pair with chicken or shrimp as well. The tangy flavors make this a fun drizzle or even a tangy dip for certain meats.
Absolutely. If you have to add a little bit of maple syrup for sweetness, it’s the perfect addition. Just stir before using!
My natural sweeter is also an option, and I’ve listed it above for you to click on and see how to make it.
Treat your taste buds and build it however you want. You can have baby spinach and slices of orange segments lying on top. Add a bit of fresh parsley, a little bit of feta cheese, and maybe even some walnuts for a crunch.
Don’t forget that sometimes when it comes to salads, less is better! One of my absolute favorite salads is where there isn’t a ton going on, and the flavor of the dressing paired with the simplicity of the salad really stands out and takes the show.
