This All Purpose Seasoning Blend proves that having a homemade blend of spices is simple to add to your spice cabinet. This delicious seasoning is the perfect starting point for all home cooks to make and use. It’s time to take your meals to a whole new level of flavor with this simple homemade mix.
Anytime that I make this homemade seasoning, I like to make a big batch. It’s because it’s the perfect way to add a simple flavor profile to so many different things. You can easily add this to any of your favorite dishes and create the perfect flavor quickly.
This homemade spice blend is one of those everyday spices that doesn’t overcrowd the natural flavor of the food, but instead helps to enhance it even more. Out of all the homemade seasoning blends that I’ve made over the past few years, I tend to keep my spice jar full of this one more often than not because it really is an all-purpose seasoning. I’ve used this on savory dishes, in salad dressings, and even as a great alternative to simple table salt in recipes, too.
If you’re a fan of making your own seasonings at home rather than buying at the store, be sure to check out my Blackened Seasoning recipe. I use this for chicken a lot and really enjoy the flavor.

Common Questions
Can I use this house seasoning on all types of meat?
You can. Just remember that a little bit goes a long way in terms of taste – but it’s perfectly fine to use this when cooking fish, chicken thighs or chicken wings, chicken breasts, and more. The recipe card below shows the measurements needed to create this homemade seasoning mix to get the perfect blend.
How do I store this all purpose blend?
The best way to store this all purpose spice blend so that it doesn’t lose much flavor is to add it to an airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry place. This spice mix would be perfectly fine with your pantry staples in your spice cabinet or kitchen pantry space. Just keep it out of direct sunlight.
Can I use this on vegetable dishes?
Absolutely. This is the perfect addition to all types of dishes and meals, so have fun with adding it. It’s a great way to enhance without overpowering. Just add, taste, and adjust as needed.
How do I know when individual spices are past their prime or expiration date?
The easiest way to tell if a spice is no longer going to be good to use is by giving it the sniff test. Spices will lose their scent as they age, so if what was once strong in scent is no longer that way, it’s a good indicator that it’s time to ditch and make a fresh new batch.
You can also tell by looking at the spices. If they are hard inside the container or clumping together, that is a clue that moisture has gotten in somehow or absorbed, and it’s a good idea to dump them into the trash and start fresh.
While the spice won’t be harmful to eat, it’s just not going to have the same flavor as fresh.
