That’s where our team of experts at Good Food comes in. We’ve been busy doing all the hard work for you in the run-up to Prime Day 2024 and tracking prices on a range of kitchenware products, so we know what an authentic deal looks like.
We also only ever feature products that have been tested and rated by our reviews team, so you can rest assured that any product we list in our guides has our stamp of approval. Between us we’ve tested hundreds of appliances and pieces of cookware over the last five years, from air-fryers to frying pans and pizza ovens (read more about how Good Food tests products).

Our team is now pretty well versed in navigating sales events like this, too, and in our experience Prime Day grows bigger every year. In fact, in 2023 we saw Amazon have its single largest sales day in the company’s history, with Prime members worldwide saving over $2.5 billion (approximately £1.9 billion). Just remember that, to make the most of the savings on offer, you’ll need to have a Prime membership – you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and cancel any time.

What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is an annual two-day shopping event that gives Prime members access to thousands of deals across a range of products. That includes appliances like air-fryers and coffee machines, cookware such as frying pans and knife sets, health supplements like collagen and protein powders, and outdoor kit like pizza ovens and barbecues.
Outside of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Prime Day has become one of the biggest sales events of the year, with Prime members purchasing more than 375 million items worldwide over Prime Day 2023.
It’s not just Amazon that you can find discounts with either. Many retailers like Lakeland, John Lewis & Partners, Our Place, Robert Dyas, Harts of Stur, and JosephJoseph have also launched their own deals this month.
When is the next Amazon Prime Day?
This year, Amazon Prime Day is taking place across Tuesday 16 July and Wednesday 17 July 2024 – that’s just a few days away.
Among the hundreds of products on sale, Amazon has said customers will also be able to get “personalised recommendations including ‘deals you might like’, ‘deals for you’, and ‘deals related to items you saved’, and discover even more selection with curated collections such as Everyday Essentials, Top Brands, and Trending Deals.”
What time does the Prime Day 2024 sale start?
Prime Day 2024 officially kicks off at midnight on Tuesday 16 July, but we’ve already seeing plenty of deals go live already – not just from Amazon, but other brands too. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to make the most of the offers throughout 16-17 July, so no need to set your alarm clock.
How long does the Prime Day 2024 sale last?
Despite what the name suggests, Amazon Prime Day is actually a two-day event, with the sale officially ending at 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 July.
In previous years we’ve seen some offers on Amazon and other retailers continue beyond Prime Day, but it could still be worth snapping up any good deals you see before the sale ends. We’ll also flag whether we’re expecting to see any further price drops on certain products, so you know the best time to buy.
How does Amazon Prime Day work?
To be able to participate in Prime Day and make the most of the deals, you’ll need to sign up for a Prime membership for £8.99 per month or £95 per year. The good news is, if you don’t want to commit to subscribing long term, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial and cancel at any time.
Once you’ve started your free trial, you’ll be eligible to buy the items on offer for a discounted price, as well as other Prime membership benefits. Don’t worry if you haven’t signed up before the sales event kicks off – you can do so at any time throughout Prime Day.
Amazon has now also launched a half-price Prime membership for younger customers aged 18 to 22. Those eligible can sign up for £4.49 a month or £47.49 a year, and get access to other perks like discounted cinema tickets, 5 per cent off travel with National Express, and free delivery for HelloFresh recipe boxes. How often is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is an annual event, and we tend to see it take place around June or July each year. This is because it originally started as a celebration of Amazon’s 20th birthday and 10 years since Prime launched. Now the company is in its 30th year, this will be the 10th Prime Day that’s taken place.
As well as Black Friday, there are other Amazon sales throughout the year, too, like the Spring Sale in March and Amazon’s Big Deals Days in October.
Advice on what to buy during Prime Day
Whether you’re looking to upgrade an existing bit of kit or want to invest in something new, there are plenty of opportunities to save on kitchen appliances and cookware throughout Prime Day. Here is a handful of some of the best deals we’ve spotted so far:
Where possible, there are also ways to shop that are friendlier to the planet (and your wallet), like buying refurbished or secondhand. Refurbished appliances in particular are becoming a popular trend thanks to their cost-saving and sustainability benefits, and you can get up to half price off kitchen and home products on sites like eBay Refurbished.
How to prepare to get genuine deals during Prime Day
- Read reviews: when you spot a good-looking deal, it’s easy to be tempted – but there’s every chance the product you have your eye on might not be that great. Our team of reviews experts has tested 100s of kitchen gadgets, so really does know the best models around. Every review is impartial and offers up-to-date tips on the gadgets actually worth your money.
- When you see a price you’re happy with, buy it: many of the current kitchen appliance deals will only be available for a short period. Look for extra perks too, like free delivery.
- Set a budget and stick to it: sales like these are perfect opportunities to save money, so to make the most of those savings, set yourself a budget and try not to stray from it.
- Use tools to alert you to good deals: for example, you can see the price history of Amazon products on CamelCamelCamel.
- Shop with reputable retailers you trust: avoid unfamiliar sites or private sellers suggested to you through social media.
- Use a secure payment method when shopping online: watch out for quizzes that ask for personal details similar to security questions – these can be used to guess your passwords. We never add links to our deals pages unless we’re 100 per cent comfortable with the retailer. Read more in our guide on how to avoid online scams during Prime Day.
