Ingredients
I love that really the only ingredient is the raw sausages in this recipe. I stated two, but that’s because you need to spray the air fryer tray with olive oil so the sausages don’t stick. Trust me – this is a must for easy clean up.
- Raw sausage – You can use any type of sausage for this recipe. Chicken sausages, pork sausage, turkey sausage, hot Italian sausage. You name it.
- Olive oil spray – This is used as an easy way to make sure that the uncooked sausages don’t stick to the air fryer basket.
See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make Air Fryer Sausage
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Spray the basket with olive oil spray.
Step One: Add the sausages into the basket in a single layer. Be sure to leave space between each one.
Step Two: Cook the sausage for 8 minutes, then flip, and cook for another 3 minutes. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Take out of the air fryer and place on a paper towel lined plate to absorb any excess oil or grease.
Top Tip💡
An instant read thermometer is the only way to ensure that thicker sausages are cooked all the way through. Insert the thermometer into the middle of the sausage, and make sure that you see a reading of at least 160 degrees.
Substitutions
- Type of sausages – You can make these easy air fryer sausages with all different kinds of sausages. Mild Italian sausage, link sausages, air fryer sausage patties – you name it. The biggest thing is that you make sure that they’re cooked all the way before eating. Checking the internal temperature is key because of the varying thickness of the sausage types.
Variations
- Make an easy meal – Once you use the air fryer method to cook this air fryer sausage recipe, why stop? It’s the best way to cook up some bell peppers and air fryer potatoes or cauliflower to pair with it.

Equipment
I recommend that you have a digital meat thermometer and an air fryer to make this easy sausage recipe.
Storage
If you have leftover sausage, let them cool and store them in an airtight container. Keep them stored in the fridge until you are ready to reheat and eat. You can warm them in the microwave or place them back in the air fryer in a single layer for a short time.
You can also freeze leftover cooked sausages to thaw for an easy dinner later down the road.
Common Questions
As with any kind of sausage, you can cook and enjoy them however you want. The most difficult part is trying to narrow down how you want to eat them. For my kids, I’ll add the sausage to sub rolls for a quick lunch or easy dinner.
You can also use a sharp knife and chop the cooked sausages up to add to noodles, beans, stir-fries, and more. The options are endless.
It does. Smaller ones won’t need as much time as larger ones, which is why having a meat thermometer is key. The best part is that you can use this simple recipe as a base to cook all types of sausage, to figure out what you like the best!
