Trader Joe’s has no shortage of obsession-worthy snacks. The Step Up to the Snack Bar Mix (once a holiday treat that can now be found year-round) always satisfies our need for salty and savory with its combination of honey mustard pretzels and Trader Joe’s Cheddar Rocket Crackers. And when we crave something sweet, we’re rushing to the frozen aisle for the S’mores Ice Cream.
Now, there’s a new snack that caught the attention of shoppers with its mix of both flavor and texture, making for the perfect bite when just about any hankering hits.
Why Shoppers Love Trader Joe’s Crispy Crunchy Coated Peanuts
Trader Joe’s recently released Crispy Crunchy Coated Peanuts that it describes as “savory, sweet and salty” and many fans are already talking about the new must-try snack.
Instagram user @traderjoeslist posted about the grocer’s latest item saying, “I really like these” as “they’re much more peanutty than they are sweet or salty.”
While the snack is new to TJ’s, it’s actually quite similar to other popular peanut snacks that have been enjoyed in other countries and cultures.
“They look like burger peanuts that you can buy in Nigeria. I have to try them, see how they compare. The Nigerian one is truly a delicacy. 🤭” said one commenter.
Someone else added that “These have been popular in Thailand, for at least 40 years” and another explained, “These are like the Trader Joe’s knock off of Cacahuates japonéses created by Yoshigei Nakatani, a Japanese immigrant living in Mexico.”
Another commenter also chimed in, “These look like kabukim from Israel! I was obsessed with those, can’t wait to try these!”
While some who have tried Trader Joe’s version may be on the fence (“Not sure about them but also still gonna eat the whole bag lol”), others have found them irresistible. As one person said, “i LOVE these!! i’m on my 3rd bag! i am addicted to the intense crunch and the perfect salt to peanut ratio! i think these are a hit or miss for most people. if you get it, you get it!!!”
TJ’s Crispy Crunchy Coated Peanuts are available now for $2.79 per bag, but only for a limited time so be sure to grab a bag on your next trip.
