Costco’s bakery has brought us some of the most amazing desserts. The enormous four-pound Key Lime Pie is “literally the best,” according to fans. Shoppers can’t even make it to the car before ripping open the packaging of the Cookies and Cream Mini Cakes and digging in. And when the warehouse store puts its Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie in the refrigerated section, shoppers stock up, keeping extras in their freezers because they disappear from the store very quickly.
That Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie may be getting some competition because Costco’s latest dessert features a flavor combination that seems to be everywhere this summer.
Costco’s New Orange Dreamsicle Cheesecake Is ‘Sensational’
The flavor combination of orange and cream brings back memories of keeping cool on hot summer days with an orange cream popsicle. That Creamsicle flavor (or Dreamsicle flavor, if you don’t want to infringe on Good Humor’s copyright of the word Creamsicle) has made its way out of the freezer case and into desserts of all kinds. The combo has been everywhere this year, from Baskin-Robbins Marigold Dreamsicle ice cream to Arby’s Orange Cream Shake to Carvel’s Creamy Dreamy soft serve.
Now Costco has also jumped on the Dreamsicle bandwagon with a new dessert that speaks to both our hearts and our taste buds. Its bakery’s new Orange Dreamsicle Cheesecake, which features a graham cracker crust and generous whipped topping, is simply “amazing,” according to one Redditor.
The cheesecake clocks in at just about five pounds and costs $22.99, which we’ll admit is a bit pricy, but as one shopper pointed out, “If it tastes good and is moist, I think $23 is a good price for a cake. Sure different people are on different budgets but when it costs $15 a slice at a quality restaurant, I can get behind $23 for a whole cake.”
And plenty of other people chimed in with how easy it is to freeze cheesecake so you don’t have to eat the entire thing at once.
But, is it any good?
On his YouTube channel, The Deal Guy called it “a sensational debut at Costco that could go down as one of the best desserts I’ve ever sampled from the Costco bakery, and that is one accolade I do not throw around.” Instagrammer @costcohotfinds agreed, calling it “delicious and nostalgic.”
There were more rave reviews on Reddit, with one commenter saying, “The orange taste is strong enough to balance out the richness of the cheesecake. I’m not even a big sweets person, but I’m quite pleased with this one.” “A very light hint of orange that takes some of the tartness of the cheesecake away,” described Tri_Tri_Tri. “My husband and I both rated it a 10/10!”
Another, who took the Orange Creamsicle Cheesecake to a gathering, said that “everyone that had it said it was delicious.” Since it’s so rich, they recommend those who are going to try the cake “to cut the slices on the smaller side.”
We’re sold—you’ll find us heading to Costco to pick up an Orange Dreamsicle Cheesecake as soon as the workday is done.
