Baja Blast Gelato Is Finally at Taco Bell—Here’s How To Try It

With fast food restaurants coming out with new menu items left and right, there has to be something really exciting to pique our editors’ interest. And, even though Taco Bell is one of those fast food chains with a new product nearly every week, the Tex-Mex restaurant never disappoints.

It seems like just yesterday Taco Bell introduced the new Cheesy Street Chalupa, and they’re already moving on to the next thing. But so far, nothing has generated more hype than one highly-teased menu item in particular.

After celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast at Taco Bell with Baja Blast in stores and Baja Blast-flavored Doritos, we’re finally getting the Taco Bell partnership we’ve waited all year for: Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato.

Taco Bell’s Baja Blast Gelato Is Finally On the Menu

Taco Bell tested the Baja Blast-flavored frozen treat at one restaurant in 2023 and it sold out in a flash. Then, at the Live Más Live event in early 2024, the brand announced it was bringing the highly anticipated dessert to restaurants nationwide.

Now, that official launch date is upon us. The Baja Blast Gelato makes its nationwide debut on Sept. 3—any minute now—and will only be available for a limited time.

How to Order Baja Blast Gelato

While it will be available at all Taco Bell restaurants, there is still a catch. The creamy gelato infused with Mountain Dew’s tropical lime Baja Blast flavor can only be ordered by Taco Bell Rewards Members in the Taco Bell app. The good news, though, is that anyone can sign up for the rewards program at any time—and it’s free.

Simply download the Taco Bell app, input your information, and you can enjoy the cool Baja Blast treat on repeat until it leaves menus.

Because Taco Bell seemingly can’t sit still, the brand has left us with one more Baja Blast-inspired tease: The chain shared that the Baja Blast Pie that broke the internet is on its way to restaurants soon. Taco Bell says the new dessert is coming later this year—so, even once the gelato is gone, we’ll have another Baja Blast-flavored treat to look forward to.
