Best coffee machines and gadgets to give as gifts
Wacaco Minipresso portable espresso machine
Although there are newer Wacaco models out, including its Picopresso and Nanopresso, its original Minipresso GR remains our favourite. Its robustly made parts slot and twist together to form a hand-sized espresso maker with a manual pump that’s easily portable. Plus, you’re guaranteed a crema every time.
Available from:
Sage the Barista Express coffee machine
If you’re looking to blow the budget, Sage’s the Barista Express was rated ‘best espresso machine for gadget lovers’ in our test of the best espresso machines. It’s a professional-standard machine with all the requisite functions to satisfy the inner barista. It grinds fresh beans, creates a perfect espresso and features a milk-foaming nozzle.
Read our full Sage the Barista Express review and our guide to the best coffee machines.
Available from:
AeroPress the Original coffee maker
The AeroPress coffee maker is the ultimate hack for brewing filter coffee fast. Not only affordable, it’s also portable, consisting of lightweight, robust plastic components so you can manually brew coffee. Just steep the coffee grounds for 10-15 seconds and then press the water through. It’s simple to clean, there’s no washing-up and the 350 filters are relatively inexpensive to replace.
Available from:
Opal One coffee pod machine
Combining the convenience of a coffee pod machine with the mechanisms of a higher-spec machine, the Opal One was launched as ‘the first machine’ purposely designed to brew speciality coffee pods’.
The machine itself has a slimline, modern design and a simple push-button interface. Three espresso options (short, normal and lungo) are selectable, with options to adjust the temperature if you’d like cooler or hotter drinks.
It also has a unique silicone brew chamber that removes the risk of the coffee becoming too diluted, and in test we loved the results it gave us: our espresso was very hot, but pleasantly acidic with a thick silky crema.
Available from:
Fellow Atmos vacuum canister
Airtight storage is a simple way to protect the flavour and freshness of your favourite coffee beans. This canister by Fellow is a step-up from your average jar, featuring a vacuum seal and integrated hand pump that removes excess air to prolong the life of its contents. We also love the contemporary design.
Available from:
Nespresso Vertuo coffee pod stand
If you’re shopping for someone who owns a Nespresso coffee machine, like the Vertuo Pop or Vertuo Next, this vertical display stand – designed specifically for the larger Vertuo pods – provides a neat and convenient storage hack. It offers space for up to 30 capsules, and is made with stainless-steel rails that the pods seamlessly slot into. Nespresso also has a display stand for standard-sized coffee capsules.
Available from:
Fellow Opus coffee grinder
Awarded star-buy status by our reviews team, this is an excellent coffee grinder for enthusiasts who want to take their set-up to the next level. It has 41 grind settings, a 200g bean capacity (enough for 12 cups), a spouted catch to minimise mess, and a volumetric dosing lid to help with measuring the beans.
It’s also a super-precise piece of kit: grinding is measured in seconds rather than cup size or dose, and we found the timings were accurate when recorded on a stopwatch. You’ll need to weigh your beans out before you grind – a good set of coffee scales will help with this – but you can also use the dosing measurements on the lid for ease.
Available from:
Grind cold brew bottle
A good batch of cold brew is light, fruity and refreshing, but making your own without any equipment can be a fiddly process. This 1-litre bottle from coffee pod brand Grind was a doddle to use and offers capacity for up to five cups.
Simply add 50g of ground coffee (roughly 7 tbsp) into the filter basket, pour in up to a litre of water, and leave it to brew for between eight to 24 hours (the longer you leave your cold brew, the more intense the flavour will be). A silicone stopper and integrated filter are provided, and in test this product was also awarded extra marks for its fully recyclable packaging.
Available from:
Sage the Knock Box 10
A handy accessory for anyone with an espresso machine or bean-to-cup coffee machine, this Knock Box provides a convenient, mess-free spot for dispensing of used espresso pucks. It’s compact enough to sit on the drip tray when the coffee machine isn’t in use, or if you’d prefer to keep it on the countertop, it has an anti-slip base for extra stability.
Once you’ve made an espresso shot, simply strike the portafilter against the bar to knock the coffee puck out. The knock bar can also be removed for easy cleaning, but just bear in mind that the box isn’t dishwasher-safe.

Cazcabel Tequila Blanco coffee liqueur
The finest weber blue agave from the mountains of Jalisco in Mexico is behind Cazcabel’s tequila blanco, distilled in the same area and altitude where the crops are grown. Blended with freshly roasted arabica coffee beans from Soconusco in the South West of Mexico, the result is the perfect marriage of sharp, bitter and sweetness that’s as suitable for sipping as it is as a base for cocktails.
Available from:
Hotel Chocolat espresso martini velvetised cream
This warming blend of vodka, espresso, white chocolate and cream has a velvety, silky-smooth texture with aromatic coffee notes. Although sweet, the flavours aren’t dampened. It’s delicious sipped over ice or stirred into a hot chocolate or milky coffee.

Whittard chocolate espresso beans
Coffee and chocolate are a classic combination, and these chocolate-covered espresso beans can be enjoyed as a sweet, creamy snack or paired with a latte, mocha or flat white. Grind coffee cups and saucers
This four-piece cup and saucer set from Grind is available in three sizes (espresso – 80ml, flat white – 180ml, or cappuccino – 200ml) and either black or red. Made from porcelain, the cups are also the same as Grind uses in its restaurants and cafes, so they’re designed to withstand lots of use.

This elegant two-piece set of glass mugs are ideal for tall milky coffees like lattes, and can even be used as a vessel for hot chocolate. Each glass is 250ml and is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe. At 15cm high, they’re better suited to coffee machines with adjustable spouts or drip trays, so double-check the measurements before you buy.
Available from:
Portmeirion rose quartz mug
We love the chunky design and unique textured pattern of this dusky pink mug, which is crafted from stoneware. It has a wide curved handle that’s comfortable to hold, and it can also go in the dishwasher.
Available from:
Bodum double-walled coffee glasses
These stylish coffee glasses from Bodum have an innovative double-walled design that keeps drinks at the optimum temperature, be it hot or cold. The base of each glass also has a silicone vent that equalises the air pressure between the two layers when liquids are added, which stops the exterior getting too hot and prevents condensation. They’re also lightweight and easy to clean, and great for other beverages like cold brew or cocktails, too.
Available from:
Origin Coffee x Ocean Bottle brew flask
Perfect for coffee drinkers on the go, this 350ml Ocean Bottle (made in collaboration with Origin Coffee) has a 360-degree lid that means you can sip hot drinks from any angle. The lid is also lockable, so you can keep it in your bag without worrying about leaks, and the double-wall insulation keeps coffee warm for hours. Ocean Bottle also runs a scheme where, for every bottle sold, it funds the collection of 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles.
