Grocery shopping isn’t cheap these days, so we’re always on the lookout for ways to save on our daily needs. Whether it’s setting a weekly grocery budget or getting better about using what’s already in the pantry, we’re all trying to be smarter about how we spend on food.
While grocery prices can be high, some stores offer relief with affordable generic items from their own private labels. Target has Good & Gather, and Walmart has Great Value.
Now, Amazon is jumping on the bandwagon, offering its customers cheaper grocery items through a brand-new label.
Amazon Launches New Budget Grocery Label: Amazon Saver
Amazon recently announced the launch of its new private label, Amazon Saver, offering products just as affordable as Walmart’s Great Value brand.
The company described it as a “no-frills brand,” which includes everything from cookies to deli meat, canned fruit, and condiments. The goal? To “help grocery budgets go further” by offering everyday items at even lower prices.
“We’re always looking to make grocery shopping easier, faster, and more affordable for our customers,” Claire Peters, worldwide vice president of Amazon Fresh, said in the statement. “With expanded Prime member savings, the introduction of the new Amazon Saver brand, and simplified online shopping, it’s now easier than ever to get your weekly grocery shopping done on a budget with Amazon Fresh—whether you’re browsing the aisles or filling your online cart.”
Items from the new private label are available both online and in stores, with most priced under $5. However, if you’re a Prime member, these products will be even cheaper—you’ll get an extra 10 percent off when shopping from this line.
We looked online and found some essentials from Amazon Saver, like Traditional Pizza Sauce for $1.09, Sliced Smoked Ham for $3.79, and Original Country Club Crackers for just $2.69.
According to Amazon, this is only the beginning, as the company plans to “add more than 100 items to the Amazon Saver selection over time.”
