It’s officially fall and the spookiest of spooky season beverages may have just dropped at Sonic Drive-In. The fast food chain known for its carhops, crunchy tots, and scary-good deals has launched a bewitching new drink, and it’s the Halloween-themed sipper we’ve been waiting for this season.
Sonic’s Introduces New Witch’s Brew Slush Float
Made with green apple-flavored slush and salted caramel bubbles, the new Sonic Witch’s Brew Slush Float is topped with creamy soft-serve and even more salted caramel bubbles for an extra boba-like burst of flavor. The colorful, green drink gives major witchy vibes and is a perfect pick-me-up for any lover of spooky season.
Mackenzie Gibson, Vice President of Culinary and Menu Innovation at Sonic Drive-In, describes the new beverage offering as a “twist on a caramel apple” that’s “sure to become a seasonal favorite.”
“This hauntingly good creation not only captures the essence of Halloween, but also delivers a deliciously fun experience that’s truly one-of-a-kind,” says Gibson.
Pricing for this brand-new Sonic drink starts at $3.99 for a medium-sized sipper. And, because Sonic donates a portion of all drink sales to its Sonic Limeades for Learning initiative (which helps support public education) you can feel like you’re giving an extra treat to students this fall just by ordering the brightly-hued slush.
The Witch’s Brew Slush Float officially hits Sonic menus on Sept. 30, but it’s available now for those ordering via the Sonic app. I got an early taste of the drink, and here’s my review.
My Review of the Sonic’s Witch’s Brew Slush Float
Never one to pass up the chance to try a new fall-themed drink, I headed to my local Sonic to try the Witch’s Brew Slush Float for myself. As promised, the drink showed up in the Sonic app for early ordering, so I added it to a mobile order and picked it up in a drive-up lane.
The verdict? This spooky Witch’s Brew is really delicious. While the green apple-flavored slush is cloyingly sweet on its own, paired with the creamy soft-serve and bursting boba-style salted caramel bubbles, each bite was a sweet autumn treat. My slush was served with both a straw and a spoon, but I found myself on Team Spoon, as it was the perfect way to swirl together the ideal ratio of green slush to vanilla soft-serve and caramel boba, all in one bite.
This isn’t the first time Sonic has launched new, limited-time menu items worth noting. In celebration of the 2024 North American total solar eclipse, the chain released a space-themed Blackout Slush Float. And, the brand embraced the beloved flavors of peanut butter and bacon with a special burger and milkshake earlier this year.
Still, if you don’t live near a Sonic, or you’re looking for some spooky drinks you can make at home, there’s always Witch’s Brew Punch or Halloween Jell-O Shots to try out. And, lots of fast food and coffee chains are bound to release their own versions of Halloween treats this season, just like they have in previous years.
But if the Witch’s Brew’s green coloring and spooky sweetness appeal to you, act fast, because this limited-time Sonic menu items disappears after Nov. 3.
