Krispy Kreme’s New Doughnut Collab Is the Best One We’ve Seen All Year

It’s true that Krispy Kreme offers us treats all year round—especially with its seasonal, monthly doughnut collections and fun collaborations. Where else could you find Dr. Pepper-flavored doughnuts one month and Dolly Parton-inspired ones the next?

You might have thought Krispy Kreme was tricking us this month by not releasing any Halloween-themed doughnuts on Oct. 1, but good things come to those who wait. Plus, that means we got to enjoy the Golden Harvest collection for just a few extra days.

Now, Krispy Kreme has announced its limited-edition menu that will be available through Halloween—and it’s in partnership with one of our favorite nostalgic movies.

Krispy Kreme’s “Ghostbusters” Collection

Krispy Kreme has been known to have some pretty great and outside-the-box collaborations. Last year, when everyone was talking about the new “Haunted Mansion” movie, Krispy Kreme released Scooby-Doo-themed doughnuts in October. Now, this year, as everyone’s heading to the theaters to see the “Beetlejuice” sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the chain is highlighting a different Halloween film: “Ghostbusters.”

The cult-classic film is celebrating its 40th anniversary, so Krispy Kreme is releasing a whole menu with four “Ghostbusters”-inspired doughnuts, plus a new drink.

Krispy Kreme’s “Ghostbusters” Collection includes a Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Doughnut made with Oreo, a Slimer Doughnut, an Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut, and a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut, as well as a new Slimer’s Slime-ade drink.

Krispy Kreme

The Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Doughnut is a classic Original Glazed topped with chocolate icing, Oreo pieces, Oreo buttercream, and the No Ghost logo candy. Krispy Kreme’s Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut is an Original Glazed topped with orange icing and neon sprinkles.

Its Slimer Doughnut starts with an unglazed doughnut with a lemon-flavored green filling that’s dipped in purple and green icing and topped with a Slimer candy. Lastly, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut Pull-Apart is made with Original Glazed Doughnut Dots and topped with powdered sugar, marshmallow-flavored buttercream, and a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man candy.

Slimer’s Slime-ade is simply Krispy Kreme’s Lemonade Chiller in Slimer’s signature ectoplasm green color.

This is Krispy Kreme’s second-ever “Ghostbusters” collection—it released its first one in 2014 for the movie’s 30th anniversary. The first launch included a Ghostbusters Doughnut and a Stay Puft Marshmallow Doughnut, but they were very different than the ones in this collection. The 2014 collection included two marshmallow creme-filled doughnuts—one topped with a No Ghost candy and the other decorated to look like Stay Puft Marshmallow Man’s face.

The new “Ghostbusters” x Krispy Kreme collection hits menus nationwide on Oct. 7. If you don’t live near a Krispy Kreme location, the collection will also be available in a 6-count box, complete with the Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Doughnut, Slimer Doughnut, Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut, and Chocolate Iced with Halloween Sprinkles, at select grocery stores nationwide where Krispy Kreme will make and deliver them fresh daily.

And, if you needed another reason to whip your Ecto-1 into Krispy Kreme’s parking lot, the chain is bringing back its popular Halloween promotion. If you wear a costume to your local Krispy Kreme on Oct. 31, you’ll receive a free Original Glazed doughnut with no additional purchase necessary.

We may not be afraid of any ghosts, but we are afraid of missing this partnership, so we’re running to Krispy Kreme ASAP.
