More than 1,000 cases of green onions were recalled over the weekend because of a possible Salmonella contamination. Church Brothers, LLC (also known as Church Brothers Farms), issued the voluntary recall after a product sample collected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency was found to be contaminated with Salmonella..
The green onions were shipped across Canada and the United States to retailers including Trader Joe’s and Imperial Fresh. The specific products are listed below:
- Church Brothers Green Onions Iceless 4x2lb with lot code CB272378
- Trader Joe’s Green Onions Iceless 24x6oz with lot code CB272378 and pack date of 092524
- Imperial Fresh Green Onion Iceless 4x2lb with lot code CB272378
Common symptoms of Salmonella infection can include fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea, and they often can last up to 7 days. Salmonella is not typically life-threatening, but individuals who are immunocompromised can experience more severe cases that may lead to hospitalization.
Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported due to the contamination. If you are experiencing the above effects after consuming the recalled green onions, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
If you have purchased the green onions, it is recommended that you discard them immediately.
