When it comes to snacks, it feels like we’ve seen it all. Sure, classic snack mixes are constantly being upgraded with new flavors and trendy ingredients, but how often do you come across a snack that’s truly groundbreaking? Between popchips, Cheez-It popcorn, and chips reimagined in a dozen different ways, it’s rare to see a product hit shelves that makes you do a double take.
Well, Snack Factory is ready to do just that with a snack that delivers on the shock factor. The brand that gave us Pretzel Crisps—one of the OG snack mash-ups—is about to shake up the snack aisle again. Let’s just say, it’s the kind of innovation we didn’t know we needed.
Snack Factory Launches New Pop’ums
Popcorn and pretzels have gotten just about every treatment imaginable. They’ve been coated in candy, sprinkled with holiday spices, crushed into pieces, and baked into chips. But never have these two icons been combined into one snack—that is, until now. Enter Pop’ums, a pretzel take on popcorn.
So how exactly do you merge solid, crunchy pretzels with light and crispy popcorn? Snack Factory has somehow cracked the code, and we couldn’t be more intrigued. Each bite of Pop’ums promises a buttery, salty flavor and a texture that’s completely unique—not quite popcorn, not quite pretzel.
According to Snack Factory, unexpected textures in snacking have been on the rise, and millennials especially are expressing interest in new kinds of salty snacks. So, nearly 20 years after introducing Pretzel Crisps, the brand is rolling out yet another snack industry disruptor. On their own, both pretzels and popcorn carry a sense of comfort, being snacks most of us grew up with. Now, they’re being reimagined into a single snack that’s full of both newness and nostalgia at the same time.
The debut lineup includes White Cheddar, made with real Cheddar cheese for a savory kick; Sea Salt, a classic, lightly salted option; and Golden Mustard BBQ, a tangy, smoky flavor with a hint of peppery bite.
However, knowing Snack Factory’s knack for creative flavors, there’s a good chance sweet flavors could follow. Pretzel Crisps, after all, now come in extra-decadent options like White Crème & Peppermint and Milk Chocolate & Caramel.
“Snack Factory forever changed snacking with the debut of Pretzel Crisps 20 years ago,” said Janda Lukin, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Campbell’s Snacks. “With Pop’ums, we are rethinking what a pretzel can be once again with a snacking experience unlike any other: combining the crunchy baked goodness of pretzels with the light, flavorful munch-ability of popcorn to create an irresistibly delicious snack.”
Whether you’re settling in for movie night or upgrading your charcuterie board, Pop’ums might just be the crisp snack you didn’t know you were craving. Starting in January 2025, you can find Pop’ums in the salty snack aisle and online, available in 9-ounce resealable bags at a suggested retail price of $5.49.
Whenever we hear “first-of-its-kind”, we can’t wait to fill our carts and see what all the hype is about. And, if history repeats itself, Snack Factory has another hit on its hands.
