Over 500,000 Pounds of Impossible Sausage Recalled

There’s an ongoing recall on approximately 552,643 pounds of plant-based ground sausage sold in retail locations nationwide, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). This is due to a potential foreign matter contamination.

Two Impossible-branded products are affected by this recall: Savory Ground Sausage Meat with UPC “8 16697 02108 8” and Spicy Ground Sausage Meat with UPC “8 16697 02109 5.” These 14-ounce products include use-by dates that range into 2026.

For the spicy variety, recalled packages have a use-by date between June 6, 2025 and January 28, 2026. The savory recalled packages have a use-by date ranging from July 3, 2025 to January 25, 2026.

The FDA just classified this recall as a Class II recall, meaning that there may be a temporary injury risk to the public if this product is eaten. Check your refrigerator and if you have this plant-based meat on hand, dispose of it or return to your place of purchase for a refund.

The Impossible Foods sausage is being recalled as pieces of metal may be found in the ground “meat,” posing a risk to consumers. If you are experiencing any illness or injury after eating one of the recalled products, talk to your healthcare provider immediately.
