Trader Joe’s Fans Voted, Now Their Snack Dreams Are a Reality

Trader Joe’s knows a thing or two about snacks. Its unique selection frequently changes, so fans always have a reason to make a spur-of-the-moment TJ’s run. The neighborhood grocer keeps its shelves stocked with sweet treats like the indulgent S’mores Ice Cream and Peach Raspberry Crisp, while its savory lineup offers favorites like Step Up to the Snack Bar Mix and Pizza Party Potato Chips. 

Trader Joe’s knows how much fans love the store’s snacks, so earlier this year, it decided to involve them in choosing a new coated pretzel flavor. Customers voted between four flavors: Birthday Cake, PB&J, Chocolate Donut, and Mocha Latte. While we don’t know exactly how many people voted, according to Trader Joe’s announcement, it was well into the thousands. And now that our voices have been heard, Trader Joe’s is stocking its shelves with the newest fan-selected snack.

Trader Joe’s ‘Pick Our Next Pretzel Contest’ Winner 

Drum roll, please. With nearly a third of the overall vote, Mocha Latte Pretzels clinched the top spot in Trader Joe’s “Pick Our Next Pretzel Contest.” A close second, Birthday Cake Pretzels, barely fell short with 29 percent of the vote. 

The Mocha Latte Pretzels are perfect for coffee lovers and snack lovers alike. According to the Trader Joe’s product listing, the mini pretzels are covered in a smooth white candy coating accented with ground coffee beans and a touch of vanilla extract. The pretzels are then topped with a dark chocolate drizzle. 

Trader Joe’s said the new treat will hit shelves around the end of summer, and some lucky customers are already finding it in stores. “Just picked up a bag of these, they’re 10/10 amazing. I need to stock up while they last,” said one Redditor in a recent thread. “These are dangerously good. Wow,” replied another. 

But not everyone is happy. With only a few percentages separating the first and second place, it’s no surprise that several fans strongly feel the runner-up should have won. “Should have been birthday cake. We need a recount,” said one commenter on Trader Joe’s Instagram post announcing the winner. Many others shared the sentiment. “Birthday cake was robbed!” added one Instagrammer whose comment received 100 likes from other fans in agreement. 

Like many other Trader Joe’s fan favorites, the Mocha Latte-coated pretzels won’t last long. The sweet and salty snack will only be available for a limited time, so be sure to head to the store and taste-test the winning flavor before it’s gone.
