Walmart Just Announced a Recall on 2 Popular Products

Walmart recently announced a recall affecting two of its products. The items being recalled are Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Mix and refrigerated Lactaid Milk.

In a statement, Puerto Rico-based Avole Inc. said it is “recalling 7-ounce bags of Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Frying Mix because they may contain undeclared fish (pollock).” There have been no reports of illness related to this recall.

Massachusetts-based HP Hood LLC also announced a recall, stating it is pulling “five SKUs of 96 oz containers of Lactaid Milk because the product may contain trace amounts of almond, which is not listed on the label.” No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall either.

Walmart Product Recall Details

Here’s what you need to know about the two recalled products sold at Walmart:

  • Avole Inc., Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Mix: The recall affects 7-ounce bags of Bacalaitos Criollos Codfish Frying Mix. These bags have an expiration date of June 2025 and item number 310925, with the “Best Use By” date located on the back of the bag, top right-center. According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after an inspection on Sept. 5, 2024, revealed that “the product label failed to declare the common name ‘fish (pollock)’ in the ingredients list and ‘contains’ statement.” The company has since updated the labeling to meet requirements.
  • HP Hood LLC, Select Units of 96-ounce Refrigerated Lactaid Milk: The recall includes Lactaid Whole Milk, Lactaid 2 Percent Milk, Lactaid 1 Percent Milk, Lactaid Fat-Free Milk, and Lactaid 2 Percent Calcium Enriched Milk, all in 96-ounce plastic containers. The affected products have an expiration code of 51-4109 P2 and corresponding “Best By” dates. The recalled Lactaid products were shipped nationwide to Walmart and other retailers between Sept. 5, 2024, and Sept. 18, 2024. States affected include Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

If you have any of these products at home, do not consume them. Instead, return them to Walmart for a full refund.
