More expensive models feature all-metal gears, while lower-end models contain some nylon gear components that won’t be as durable in the long run (this is why your parents’ stand mixer from the ‘70s may still be up and running while newer ones break down in less than 10 years) or stand up to super dense doughs. Beyond that, some mixers come in specific colors, premium finishes, or include accessory packages or limited-edition bowls in materials like ceramic and wood.
